Policies

Commitment

Students enroll for a Season which includes seven 6 week sessions across the year. Lessons may be paid in full at time of registration or by session. The non-refundable Registration Fee is due at the time of registration. You must make a payment to be considered registered and hold your spot. You do not need to make a payment if you have been placed on the waiting list until your student is accepted into a lesson slot or class. Choir does not require a registration fee and can be paid in full or by semester. Personal checks are accepted, but there is a $25 fee for returned checks.

Attendance and Withdrawal

Students who must cancel a lesson for any reason are asked to notify the instructor by phone, email or text at least 24 hours in advance of the missed lesson. Makeup lessons for reasons other than illness will be at the discretion of the instructor. A student who is more than 10 minutes late without contact to the instructor is considered a “no show”. These lessons will not be rescheduled. Please ask your instructor for their preferred contact information. Instructors are responsible for making up all lessons canceled or missed by the instructor.

A 30 day written notice must be made to the Administrative Director should a student wish to discontinue lessons during a Season. No refunds will be made for discontinuing at any point during a session. If written notice is not given you will be responsible for the balance of the next session. All registrations require the written or digital signature of consent of the responsible party for their obligation to pay for all lessons/classes selected in registration unless a registration is made in error and the Administrative Director is notified immediately or canceled by the Conservatory. A late fee of $10 will be charged to accounts delinquent past the due date and lessons will be suspended until the account balance is paid.

Scheduling

Studio Rooms are scheduled at the beginning of each session. It is typical for instructors to teach in multiple rooms throughout the week depending on equipment and instrumentation needs. Room schedules for the students should remain consistent throughout the session when possible. Parents and or students should wait for their instructor in the designated waiting area. If the instructor is more than 5 minutes late, call or text the instructor. If there is no response and the instructor is more than 10 minutes late, please contact the Director.

Practice

Regular and consistent practice spread throughout the week are essential to making successful progress and advancement toward individual musical goals. Parents of young students can help establish good practice habits by scheduling practice into daily or weekly routines.

Conduct

Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately for learning. All instructors and students are to be treated with respect and courtesy at all times. Any treatment to the contrary should be reported to the Administrative Director immediately. Horseplay, roughhousing and other physical acts that may endanger others or cause accidents and disruptions are prohibited. Rude or offensive behavior and language will not be tolerated. Parents and students must report any observed misuse of equipment, inappropriate behavior, or other offenses to the Director.

Health and Safety

The safety of our students, instructors and their families are a priority. Our lessons are in person. Virtual lessons will only be made available by special request. In person participation includes possible exposure to illness. While policies and personal hygiene may reduce the risk it does still exist. The Conservatory studio will receive regular cleaning and Instructors will use cleaning procedures specified by the Conservatory to reduce the risk of illness exposure. Participants must be willing to accept the risk inherent with participation. We ask that student and family members who are or may be ill contact the Instructor to reschedule.

For the safety of the students and the integrity of the Conservatory we require students 12 years old and under to be escorted by a parent or guardian into the building for their lessons or class and picked up inside the building at the conclusion of their lesson/class by a parent or guardian. Students under the age of 12 MAY NOT be left unattended at lessons or class with the exception of the Andante Choir. A parent or guardian may wait in their vehicle in designated conservatory parking areas and be considered present. All students are expected to be picked up promptly at the end of their lesson, class or choir.

Property Use

Families are encouraged to wait in the designated waiting area or outside if weather permits while students are in lessons. Please be courteous to the Instructors that are engaged in lessons. The property that the Conservatory leases is shared with another business. Be courteous in common areas. Use only designated Conservatory parking off of Van Bibber Street unless otherwise directed by Conservatory staff. Children not in lessons should be supervised by parents at all times and remain in designated Conservatory areas. Children should not be allowed to play on or around septic tanks and caps.
